Chapel of San Simon
Here's a list of some offerings that are common in the veneration of our Hermano
Aguardiente - this is a raw sugar cane rum. For those of us in the USA, we can substitute a high proof rum, such as Bacardi 151
Cigars - Maximon isn't called the "Smoking Saint" for nothing..
Cigarettes - most of the smaller statues of San Simon will hold cigarettes better than cigars, and he is known to accept both.
Money - money from coins to bills are also a common offering. At our shrine, the red beg that our statue holds is full of coins.
New clothes - new clothes for His statue is a common offering, as well as scarves, sunglasses, and other similar accoutrements.
Pine Resin Incense - This can be burned on incense coals, but it is a rather thick incense, so make sure the area is well ventilated.
Colognes - I usually prefer Bay Rum or Siete Machos
Tortillas - This is a very common offering, mentioned in common prayers found on candles. I usually fry the tortilla in butter and offer 9 of them at once.
Candles - here are some candle meanings that are common, noting there are differences depending on region.
White - protection for children
Black - against enemies and envy
Yellow - health; protection for adults
Green - Business and Prosperity
Blue - work and fortune
Pink - health and hope
Purple - against addiction and bad thoughts
Light Blue - money, happiness, travel and knowledge
Red - for judgements against people
